Sneak Peeks by Creative Developers<\/em>.<\/p>\r\n<p><a href=\"http:\/\/www.pepcon.com\/session\/creativewow-sneak-peeks-creative-developers-2014\/\">http:\/\/www.pepcon.com\/session\/creativewow-sneak-peeks-creative-developers-2014\/<\/a><\/p>\r\n<p>The aim: a meeting of minds between graphic designers and\u00a0creative software developers.<\/p>\r\n<h2>Script Challenge!<\/h2>\r\n<p>Attendees to PePcon were invited beforehand to share ideas for useful scripts. You can find the various &#8216;<span style=\"color: #333333;\">PePcon People&#8217;s Choice script ideas&#8217; here:<\/span><\/p>\r\n<p><a href=\"http:\/\/connect.pepconference.com\/#discussions\/209211\/\">http:\/\/connect.pepconference.com\/#discussions\/209211\/<\/a><\/p>\r\n<p>Later on, a vote was held\u00a0to pick the most interesting scripts from the proposal. Three scripts were picked.<\/p>\r\n<p>The challenge to the creative developers at PePcon 2014 was to build these scripts in just a few hours. The vote was held\u00a0around 5:00PM, the presentation was at 8:00PM. All three\u00a0scripts were built in that limited amount of time.<\/p>\r\n<p>As it so happens, the\u00a0scripts are all meant for use with Adobe InDesign.<\/p>\r\n<p>One of the\u00a0scripts that was voted in was\u00a0<em>Remove Empty XML Tags<\/em>\u00a0(which rids a document of any empty XML tags). This challenge was picked up by <a href=\"http:\/\/www.premediasystems.com\/whoweare.html#jb\">Jim Birkenseer<\/a> from Premedia Systems.<\/p>\r\n<p>The second\u00a0script was <em>Style Name Scrubber<\/em>. It cleans up a document&#8217;s style names. <a href=\"http:\/\/www.kahrel.plus.com\">Peter Kahrel<\/a> from Typefi rose to the occasion\u00a0and built it in time for the CreativeWOW! session.<\/p>\r\n<p>More info about these two scripts can be found on the InDesignSecrets web site:<\/p>\r\n<p><a href=\"http:\/\/indesignsecrets.com\">http:\/\/indesignsecrets.com<\/a><\/p>\r\n<h2><em>Swimmer<\/em>, a.k.a <em>Switch-Image-r<\/em><\/h2>\r\n<p><a href=\"http:\/\/nz.linkedin.com\/in\/kristiaan\">Kris Coppieters<\/a> from Rorohiko agreed to build the third InDesign script. The download link for this free script is further below.<\/p>\r\n<p>The script can\u00a0swap words with images and back. The poor thing\u00a0ended up with the name <em>Swimmer,\u00a0<\/em>a concatpression of the words <em>Switch<\/em>\u00a0and <em>Image<\/em>\u00a0and the suffix <em>-er<\/em>.<\/p>\r\n<p>The idea behind <em>Swimmer<\/em> is that a document might contain <em>keywords<\/em> that sometimes need to be replaced\u00a0by graphic icons, and sometimes need to be reverted back to\u00a0plain words.<\/p>\r\n<p>E.g. a brochure about crockery might contain terms like <em>dishwasher safe<\/em>, <em>hand wash<\/em>, &#8230;<\/p>\r\n<p>The script can search the document for any occurrences of some\u00a0designated\u00a0<em>keywords<\/em>\u00a0and can replace them with corresponding icon-size graphic images.<\/p>\r\n<p>Afterwards, it can also perform\u00a0the reverse operation: find all such images and replace them back with the original <em>keywords<\/em>.<\/p>\r\n<p>The Swimmer script can be downloaded here:<\/p>\r\n<p><a href=\"http:\/\/www.rorohiko.com\/downloads\/Swimmer.1.0.5.zip\">http:\/\/www.rorohiko.com\/downloads\/Swimmer.1.0.5.zip<\/a><\/p>\r\n<p>Version 1.0.5 was released on 12-March-2019 and adds support for object styles (e.g. useful to apply a baseline shift to the images).<\/p>\r\n<p>The .zip file contains documentation and sample files.<\/p>\r\n<p>Feedback and questions: <a href=\"mailto:support@rorohiko.com\">support@rorohiko.com<\/a><\/p>\r\n\r\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">&nbsp;<\/p>\r\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>Swimmer.
