JSXGetURL for InDesign Server<\/em> enhances ExtendScript in InDesign Server to make it easy to access servers using\u00a0http<\/strong>,\u00a0https, sftp\u2026<\/strong>\u00a0\u2013 e.g. to download assets from a remote server.<\/p>\r\n\r\n\r\n\r\n

Initially, JSXGetURL<\/em> operates in demo mode, allowing up to 5 consecutive transfers after an instance restart. To continue using the service beyond this limit, activation is required by way of the PluginInstaller<\/em><\/em> (see further).<\/p>\r\n

An activation costs US$949 per year, per server.<\/p>\r\n\r\n\r\n\r\n

This version is only for InDesign Server. We also have a version for Creative Cloud desktop applications<\/a>.<\/p>\r\n\r\n\r\n\r\n

JSXGetURL<\/em> works on Mac and on Windows.<\/p>\r\n\r\n\r\n\r\n

All you need to do is copy the JSXGetURL<\/em> folder to sit alongside your own ExtendScript script, and then add an \/\/@include<\/code> line at the top of your script.<\/p>\r\n\r\n\r\n\r\n

JSXGetURL<\/em> is implemented as an ExtendScript DLL\/framework, written in C\/C++.<\/p>\r\n\r\n\r\n\r\n

After unzipping, you can relocate the application to a convenient location (e.g., \/Applications<\/code> or C:\\Program Files<\/code>).<\/p>\r\n\r\n\r\n\r\n
There is no installer. Each time you move the PluginInstaller<\/em> application to a different location on your computer, you need to launch the app once, so it can reconfigure itself.<\/p>\r\n
Because JSXGetURL<\/em> is a developer tool that needs to be integrated with your script, there is no ‘install’ function in PluginInstaller<\/em>. PluginInstaller<\/em> is only used to manage your activations.<\/p>\r\n\r\n\r\n\r\n

Run sample.jsx<\/code> alongside the JSXGetURL<\/code> folder from an InDesign Server instance.<\/p>\r\n\r\n\r\n\r\n
Installing JSXGetURL<\/h2>\r\n\r\n\r\n\r\n
Copy the JSXGetURL<\/em> subfolder to reside next to your own script (.jsx<\/code>). Look at the sample.jsx<\/code> file for example code.<\/p>\r\n\r\n\r\n\r\n
Modify your script and at the top, add a line<\/p>\r\n\r\n\r\n\r\n

Then model your transfer logic by mimicking the code you see in sample.jsx<\/code>, to perform the transfers you need.<\/p>\r\n\r\n\r\n\r\n
Installing PluginInstaller<\/h2>\r\n\r\n\r\n\r\n
Mac<\/h3>\r\n\r\n\r\n\r\n
If desired, move the PluginInstaller<\/em> application file to its desired location.<\/p>\r\n\r\n\r\n\r\n
Double-click the PluginInstaller<\/em> application icon to run the app from its current location at least once.<\/p>\r\n\r\n\r\n\r\n
Windows<\/h3>\r\n\r\n\r\n\r\n
If desired, move the PluginInstaller<\/em> folder for your Windows platform (arm64 vs x86_64) to its desired location.<\/p>\r\n\r\n\r\n\r\n
Navigate into the PluginInstaller<\/em> folder and double-click the PluginInstaller.exe<\/code> icon to run the app from its new location at least once.<\/p>\r\n\r\n\r\n\r\n
Activating<\/h2>\r\n\r\n\r\n\r\n
Standard Account<\/h3>\r\n\r\n\r\n\r\n
You need a Standard Account to activate the software.<\/p>\r\n\r\n\r\n\r\n
Start the PluginInstaller<\/em>.<\/p>\r\n\r\n\r\n\r\n
Create a standard account by clicking the New<\/em> button, bottom right of the Accounts<\/em> window.<\/p>\r\n\r\n\r\n\r\n
Enter a descriptive name and a valid email address, and choose an unlock code. You need to enter the same unlock code twice.<\/p>\r\n\r\n\r\n\r\n
Click OK<\/em>.<\/p>\r\n\r\n\r\n\r\n
After the account has been created, click Register<\/em> to register the account.<\/p>\r\n\r\n\r\n\r\n
You will receive a confirmation email with a confirmation link.<\/p>\r\n\r\n\r\n\r\n
If the email does not arrive, make sure to check your email spam filter!<\/p>\r\n\r\n\r\n\r\n
Save Unlock Code<\/h3>\r\n\r\n\r\n\r\n
On the Accounts<\/em> window, there is a checkbox Save Unlock Code<\/em>.<\/p>\r\n\r\n\r\n\r\n
If you’re on a secure personal computer or secure server, you should leave this option selected.<\/p>\r\n\r\n\r\n\r\n
If you don’t save the unlock code, you will need to re-enter the code each time you start the PluginInstaller<\/em><\/em>.<\/p>\r\n\r\n\r\n\r\n
Multiple Accounts<\/h3>\r\n\r\n\r\n\r\n
You can create as many accounts as needed.<\/p>\r\n\r\n\r\n\r\n
It is allowed to re-use the same email address and unlock code for multiple accounts.<\/p>\r\n\r\n\r\n\r\n
If you do<\/em> re-use the same email address for more than one account, they become hard to distinguish. Make sure to use good descriptive names, so you can tell the accounts apart.<\/p>\r\n\r\n\r\n\r\n
For example, you might use one account that you keep for your own personal use, and one or more additional accounts that you could use for ordering embeddable JSXGetURL<\/em> activations to pass on to your customers or colleagues.<\/p>\r\n\r\n\r\n\r\n
Always make sure your account is unlocked. If you did not save your unlock code, you will need to re-enter the code if the account is locked.<\/p>\r\n\r\n\r\n\r\n
Fetch Product Info<\/h3>\r\n\r\n\r\n\r\n
Now we need to add the product information for the software to be activated into the PluginInstaller<\/em><\/em>.<\/p>\r\n\r\n\r\n\r\n
Use the Store<\/em> window in the PluginInstaller<\/em><\/em>, and browse into the Rorohiko<\/em> Catalog.<\/p>\r\n\r\n\r\n\r\n
Click the entry for the server version of JSXGetURL<\/code><\/em> to open the Order a License<\/em> window in the PluginInstaller<\/em><\/em>.<\/p>\r\n\r\n\r\n\r\n
Create an Order<\/h3>\r\n\r\n\r\n\r\n
Enter the number of seats needed.<\/p>\r\n\r\n\r\n\r\n
Type in some order reference that will have relevance to you.<\/p>\r\n\r\n\r\n\r\n
Finally, if you have multiple accounts available, you will now need to select the correct account from the popup menu.<\/p>\r\n\r\n\r\n\r\n
The click the Purchase button and handle the payment; we’re using PayPal as our payment processor.<\/p>\r\n\r\n\r\n\r\n\r\n\r\n
Activation File<\/h3>\r\n\r\n\r\n\r\n
Once we have received your payment, we will activate the license.<\/p>\r\n\r\n\r\n\r\n
Start the PluginInstaller<\/em><\/em> and go to the Licenses, Activations and Pending Orders<\/em> window.<\/p>\r\n\r\n\r\n\r\n
Keep an eye on the open order: after payment the status should be ‘Purchased’. Some time later, when we’ve processed the order, this status will change to ‘Valid’.<\/p>\r\n\r\n\r\n\r\n\r\n\r\n
If the activation did not automatically happen, you can now select the order entry and click the Activate<\/em> button to activate your workstation.<\/p>\r\n\r\n\r\n\r\n
The 5-transfer limit will now be removed from JSXGetURL<\/em>.<\/p>\r\n\r\n\r\n\r\n
Sublicensing\/auto-activation<\/h2>\r\n\r\n\r\n\r\n
You might want to embed JSXGetURL<\/em> into your own commercial software, or have JSXGetURL<\/em> auto-activate so the end-user does not have to handle any activations. To achieve this, you can embed activation info into your source code or provide it as a side-car file.<\/p>\r\n\r\n\r\n\r\n
